International Mobile Equipment Identity
In the very near future, we will be adding a storage facility to the IMEI.org.uk website to allow our users to store their IMEI numbers with us allowing users to retrieve their IMEI numbers should they have the misfortune to have their phone stolen or should they happen to lose their phone.
You will simply have to supply your email address and a password. We will send an email to you to confirm your email address. Once your email address is verified (by way of clicking on a link within the email we send you), you will be able to log in and add your IMEI number(s) to the secure database. If you should ever need your IMEI number (and thousands of people each year do), all you will need is your email address and password (and should you have forgotten your password, we will happily send you an email to remind you!). Simplicity!
For now, jot down your IMEI number and keep it safe. You can find your IMEI number by the following ways:
To find out your mobile phone's IMEI number, type:
* # 0 6 #
into your mobile phone handset. As you complete the above code, your mobile phone's IMEI number will be displayed on the screen.
Alternatively, you can also find the IMEI number recorded on an identification sticker, normally located on the rear of the handset and underneath the battery.
You will need your mobile phone's IMEI number if you report the phone lost or stolen to the police, your insurance company or your mobile phone provider, therefore you should keep a record of the IMEI number somewhere safe... You can record your IMEI numbers here on IMEI.org.uk - if you should ever need to look it up, you will only have to enter your email address and password to retrieve it - as you'll not be able to retrieve it should your phone be lost or stolen!
Our IMEI recording facility will be up and running in the very near future... Watch this space!
